About FKAAB
Overview
The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Built Environment (FKAAB), formerly known as Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering (FKAAS), was established on May 1, 2004 as a result of the merging of two departments, i.e. the Department of Civil Engineering (Faculty of Engineering) and the Department of Construction and Environmental Engineering Technology (Faculty of Engineering Technology). The Department of Civil Engineering dates back to September 13, 1993 when Pusat Latihan Staf Politeknik (PLSP) was set up, while the Department of Construction and Environmental Engineering Technology was established on September 30, 2000 when Institut Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (ITTHO) was upgraded to Kolej Universiti Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (KUiTTHO).
FKAAB offers academic programmes to students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. These programmes are specifically designed towards the achievement of the faculty's vision and mission. Boasting a pool of academicians and researchers with doctorates from all across the globe, including United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Germany, Sweden, New Zealand, Japan and Hong Kong, FKAAB is a prime mover in conducting innovative and sustainable research in accordance with the needs of the nation. With its top quality education and prowess in research and development, FKAAB strives to become a driving force in producing human capital, and a main center of reference in civil and environmental engineering.

Quality Objectives
- To ensure student enrollment exceeds 90% of the faculty’s target (2,500).
- To ensure international student enrollment exceeds 6% of total current enrollment.
- To ensure new research funds exceed 80% of the faculty’s target.
- To ensure the faculty's H-Index (SCOPUS) increases 1 index value every year.
- To ensure percentage of yearly income generation is at least 40% of the faculty’s target.
- To ensure complaints related to teaching and learning systems or equipment are resolved within a period of not exceeding 1 month.
- To ensure the graduate employability exceeds 80% after 1 year of graduation.

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh and Greetings.
I would like to congratulate all students at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Built Environment (FKAAB) UTHM. All of you are very fortunate to be selected to enter this University, which is well-equipped with current infrastructure and conducive learning environment. Being selected to this university is a great privilege that should not be wasted. This is due to the fact that the education process at the tertiary level requires continuous effort and commitment so that the knowledge gained can produce students who are excellent in all aspects in accordance with the needs of industries and nation.
In order to accomplish the University’s mission, which is to produce and train competitive professionals and technologists of high ethical values, you will be guided by qualified, committed, and responsible academic staff. FKAAB offers academic programmes based on advanced civil engineering fields as well as focuses on sustainable environment for universal prosperity. To enhance students’ understanding and creativity, the faculty provides laboratories equipped with the latest equipment and assisted by well-trained technicians. Students will also have to undergo practical work in the field relevant to the current industrial needs.
Therefore, you must take this opportunity to work extremely hard in order to achieve the aspirations of not only your parents but also the community and the country. Systematic planning of teaching and learning will produce outstanding graduates.
