About FKAAB
Overview
The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Built Environment (FKAAB), formerly known as Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering (FKAAS), was established on May 1, 2004 as a result of the merging of two departments, i.e. the Department of Civil Engineering (Faculty of Engineering) and the Department of Construction and Environmental Engineering Technology (Faculty of Engineering Technology). The Department of Civil Engineering dates back to September 13, 1993 when Pusat Latihan Staf Politeknik (PLSP) was set up, while the Department of Construction and Environmental Engineering Technology was established on September 30, 2000 when Institut Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (ITTHO) was upgraded to Kolej Universiti Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (KUiTTHO).
FKAAB offers academic programmes to students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. These programmes are specifically designed towards the achievement of the faculty's vision and mission. Boasting a pool of academicians and researchers with doctorates from all across the globe, including United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Germany, Sweden, New Zealand, Japan and Hong Kong, FKAAB is a prime mover in conducting innovative and sustainable research in accordance with the needs of the nation. With its top quality education and prowess in research and development, FKAAB strives to become a driving force in producing human capital, and a main center of reference in civil engineering and built environment.

Quality Objectives
- To ensure that student enrollment exceeds 90% of the faculty’s target (2,500).
- To ensure that international student enrollment exceeds 6% of total current enrollment.
- To ensure new research grants exceed 80% of the faculty’s target.
- To ensure that the faculty's H-Index (SCOPUS) increases by 1 index value each year.
- To ensure that Graduate Employability after 6 months of graduation exceeds 80%.
- To ensure that the percentage of revenue generation achieves at least 40% of the faculty’s target.
- To ensure that any complaints related to teaching and learning systems or equipment are resolved within a period of not more than 6 months.
Client Charter
FKAAB is committed and hereby promises:
- To provide a fair, ethical and customer friendly counter service.
- To respond to customer written enquiries within five (5) working days from the date of receipt.
- To issue official document to student within five (5) working days from the receipt date of application.
- To process and update student data in Student Information System (SMPi) according to the Work Schedule for every semester.
- To issue appointment letter to course lecturer/coordinator at least one week prior to the commencement of the new semester.
- To ensure all the promotion applications are evaluated by the Expert Committee within one (1) month after receiving the complete document application.
- To ensure all staff claims are processed and submitted to the Bursary Office for payment within fourteen (14) working days in the following month.
- To ensure all invoices are processed and submitted to the Bursary Office within seven (7) working days from the date of receipt.
Occupational Safety and Health Policy
It is the policy of University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia that in the conduct of our activities within our premises and/or worksite we shall provide, to our staff, as far as practicable, a safe and healthy work environment and to ensure that the welfare of all staff and customers are adhered.
To ensure that this policy is enforced, is it the responsibility of the University management to:
- Ensure that the premises/worksites practice a safe and healthy work system.
- To respond to customer written enquiries within five (5) working days from the date of receipt.
- Provide adequate facilities and equipment in order to carry out all tasks safely and healthily.
- Ensure that all information, instruction, training and supervision which are russeminated ensures that safety of the staff and customers.
- Comply with all occupational safety and health legislation stipulated in Malaysia

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh and Greetings.
I would like to welcome all students to the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Built Environment (FKAAB), UTHM. Being part of this faculty is a great privilege because the education provided by our faculty is the result of continuous effort and commitment by our staff to ensure the knowledge imparted can produce students who excel in all aspects in accordance with the needs of the industry.
In order to accomplish our mission, which is to produce and train professionals of high ethical values, you will be guided by qualified, committed, and responsible academic staff. FKAAB offers academic programmes in the fields of civil engineering and built environment, focusing on sustainable engineering designs and solutions dedicated towards achieving universal prosperity. To enhance students’ understanding and creativity, the faculty provides state-of-the-art facilities and conducive learning environments. Our laboratories are equipped with the latest equipment and assisted by well-trained technicians. Students will also have to undergo practical work in fields relevant to the current industrial needs.
You are entering an era where the challenges of urbanisation, climate change, and technological advancement are at the forefront. We are facing issues that demand more than just technical expertise.
